Diagnostic Safety Webinars

We have started a recurring, virtual webinar (every other week) during which we review cases with possible diagnostic error using a structured review process that we have developed as part of the PSLL and UPSIDE studies. While the intent of these webinars are to improve interrater reliability for chart reviewers for our active studies on diagnostic error, they have educational and practical value for practicing clinicians in hospital medicine in the following ways:

• To spur continuous learning regarding diagnostic error in hospital medicine
• To learn about potential failures and common pitfalls in the diagnostic process that lead to diagnostic errors
• To learn new techniques, tips, and tricks to streamline the EHR review / biopsy proces
• To provide structured format for reviewing cases of potential diagnostic error for M&M, quality assurance, HMU CME talks
